Getting to Newcastle

The town of Newcastle is in the north of England, and it is easily accessible through public transportation from a variety of places. Whether you are coming from another city in England, one of the countries or Europe, or you are on another continent, there are many ways to get to Newcastle for a vacation.

By Plane
Newcastle has its own airport, called the Newcastle International Airport. The airport has incoming flights from other airports around the UK as well as throughout Europe. If you are coming from another continent, such as the Americas or Asia, it is easy to get a flight to elsewhere in the UK, like London, and simply switch planes to get to Newcastle. Once you arrive at the Newcastle International Airport you can find your way to the city center through a variety of different ways. You can choose to take the metro, a bus, a taxi, or by renting a car at one of the rental locations inside the airport.

By Bus
There are two bus lines that provide service to Newcastle: Megabus and National Express. Buses arrive at the Newcastle Coach Station. You can find service to several cities throughout England, and Megabus is well known for providing inexpensive travel option.

By Train
Newcastle is serviced by several different rail lines, and they have their own train station at the Newcastle Central Station. Trains come into Newcastle from most of the major cities in the UK, including London, Leeds, Birmingham, Manchester, and Reading, as well as some of the main cities in Scotland such as Edinburgh and Glasgow. Newcastle also has a local rail system called Northern Rail, which provides service to many of the nearby cities and towns in northern England.

By Boat
If you're coming from Holland, there is a daily ferry that travels between Newcastle and Amsterdam. Once you arrive in the Newcastle area you'll have to take a bus to get from where the ferry docks to the center of the city. Buses are easily accessible in this area for transport into the city, but you can also hire a taxi to get you there.
